The Purpose

By endorsing and supporting quality education, American Women in Radio and TelevisionÕs Southern California Chapter (AWRT SoCal), wishes to guarantee the future quality of radio and television in Southern California. Toward that goal, AWRT SoCal has established a scholarship fund to aid in the higher education of promising students. This complements the AWRT mission: to advance the impact of women and men in the electronic media and allied fields by educating, advocating and acting as a resource to its members and the industry.

The Scholarship

The Southern California Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television awards scholarships to students focusing on a career in radio, television, film, or multimedia. Applicants are judged on their overall presentation of themselves as potential candidates for the broadcast and film industries. Scholarships will be distributed to students attending an University within the Southern Ca area. Scholarships typically range from $500- $2000. AWRT SoCal will make available funds for annual scholarship awards for tuition and books.
