AWRT SoCal Announces Partnership with Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure®
Making It Happen and Saving Lives In Southern California!

Burbank, CA (February 17, 2009) -- AMERICAN WOMEN IN RADIO AND TELEVISION - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER - ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH SUSAN G. KOMEN RACE FOR THE CURE®.
The Southern California Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT SoCal) today announced its sponsorship of the Los Angeles County Affiliate Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. The 13th annual race held in Pasadena Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Area H South of the Rose Bowl, raises awareness and funds to support local breast cancer services and national breast cancer research programs.
"Nowadays, almost everyone knows someone who has had a brush with cancer and has witnessed its devastating affects on families, friends, and associates," said Laura Behrman, AWRT SoCal President. "The Race for the Cure® is our chance to honor those survivors and the memory of those who lost their battle with breast cancer by raising funds to support the ongoing efforts to fight this terrible disease."
The AWRT is a national, non-profit organization that works to further the advancement of women in electronic media and give back to the community it serves. "We are very proud to be a Diamond-Level sponsor of the Race for the Cure® and hope others will join our efforts in supporting our local community and this worthy cause," stated Behrman.
"The American Women in Radio and Television has been an integral part of the advancement of women for nearly 60 years," explains Catherine Mullally, Executive Director, Los Angeles County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. A variety of activities are planned on Race day to accommodate all levels of interest and ability including a Health & Fitness Expo, Jazzercise, 5K Run/Walk, and a Non-Competitive Kids 1K Fun Run. The event will kick off with Opening Ceremonies and a Celebration of Life Ceremony.

About Susan G. Komen For The Cure: Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is an international organization with a network of volunteers working through local Affiliates and Komen Race for the Cure® events.
The Los Angeles County Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® raises funds to support the fight against breast cancer! The primary goal of the Affiliate is to provide funding for programs that will assist women who are medically underserved and uninsured to get necessary services.
